Ted Lewis

Ted Lewis held his first solo exhibition at the Hesley Gallery in Orange NSW in 1976 at the age of 18. Since then he has had successful exhibitions in Orange, Bathurst, Sydney, Peak Hill, South Port Queensland, Canberra, Molong and Canowindra.

Ted has a great love of the Australian bush and takes his paints with him wherever he goes, always painting out in the open air. His great skill is his ability to capture the light of the country’s diverse landscape – from our vibrant  beaches,  to  our soft eucalypts and the brilliant reds and blues of the Central Australia desert. He is considered to be a master painter of the gum tree in it’s many beautiful forms.

Ted’s latest solo exhibition here at Aarwun Gallery, entitled In the Footsteps of Banjo Patterson was a sell-out. The collection was inspired by the poems of the legendary bush poet - also from Orange and also a lover of the Australian Bush. The works featured the much loved characters from Waltzing Matilda and The Man from Snowy River.
