David Lake

David Lake is a self-taught painter of the Australian Landscape. With their soft, painterly edges and unpopulated scenes his works have a quiet, thoughtful quality which arrests the viewers attention. Often depicting a solitary trailer, gumtree or stockman's hut within a wide expanse of space- they are also unmistakably Australian in character.

In 1985 David began exhibiting in the Sydney metropolitan area. Since then he has held many solo and group exhibitions and has collected more than 80 first prizes and commendations from competitions across the state. His paintings have also been selected in many significant art prizes including the Country Energy Prize for Landscape Painting, The Mortimore Prize, Kogarah Art Prize, Willoughby Art Prize, Hawkesbury Art Prize, and the Korea Australia Arts Foundation Prize.

David is a Fellow of the Royal Art Society of New South Wales. He is also a member of the Oatley 101 Society of Artists, and a participant on the Bathurst Arts Trail. His work has appeared on several occasions in Australian Artist Magazine and he is represented in Max Germaine’s Artists & Galleries of Australia (1990 edition).

David’s work is held in private and municipal collections in Australia and private collections overseas, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Japan, and the USA.
